The Middle East Technical University (METU) is one of Turkey’s premier public universities and renowned for its excellence in research and teaching. The Times Higher Education World University Ranking of 2014 ranked METU among the top 100 universities in the world and the best within Turkey. Researchers from the Science and Technology Policies Center (TEKPOL) and from the Jean Monnet Center of Excellence for European Studies (JMCE CES) contribute to the FEUTURE’s research. TEKPOL is an interdisciplinary research center that conducts research on science and technology policy related issues. It was founded in 1997 at the Middle East Technical University with the explicit objective to supply science and technology policy related human capital for the government bodies, agencies and other related organizations and to conduct research in science, technology and innovation policy issues. JMCE CES was founded in 1997 at the Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences and aims to contribute to comparative research on Europe and European integration through an interdisciplinary team of researchers. Research is conducted along three broad core research programs: integration, Europeanization, neighbourhood and cross border issues. CES offers two different MSc Programmes, one in “European Studies” since 2001 and another in “European Integration” since 2006. Being one of the leading research centers specializing on European integration within Turkey and its region, the center has been recognized as one of the best practices among the JMCEs in the world. JMCE CES has vast institutional networks and conducts joint research projects with various research centers and universities in Europe. In the last decade, it has successfully conducted more than 15 research projects that were financed by the European Union within the scope of Network of Excellence (NoE), Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA), Lifelong Learning Programme (LLP) and several other instruments.
